# How to enable home office for employees in My Capitech

To allow employees to register home office automatically in My Capitech, enable the Location dimension and geolocation in Capitech Flow. Once this is set up, employees can save their own home office locations in My Capitech.

## What is home office in My Capitech?

Home office is used in My Capitech when you want an overview of when employees work from home.

Once the feature is enabled, My Capitech can automatically set the location to **Home office** on the time registration when an employee registers time from a saved home office location.

## How to enable location and geolocation

To use home office, you must first enable location and geolocation in client settings.

To do this:

1.  Go to **Admin - Client settings - Dimensions**
2.  Select **Register location** in the upper-left corner
3.  Select **Enable geolocation** in the lower-right corner
4.  Click **Save** in the lower-left corner

Once these options are enabled, location can be used when registering time in My Capitech.

## Where do you create locations?

Once location is enabled, you can create and maintain locations here:

**Admin - Dimensions - Location**

Here, you can create a standard **Home office** location.

When you enable Location in client settings, a standard home office location is created automatically.

## How do employees use home office in My Capitech?

Once geolocation is enabled, employees can create their own home office locations in My Capitech.

Employees save the location of their home office to their personal account. When they later register time from this location, My Capitech can automatically set the location to **Home office** on the time registration.

## Access and Privacy

Your organization cannot access or view an individual employee’s GPS location for their home office.

You can only see that hours have been registered against your organization’s standard home office location.

## Overview for managers

When home office is used as a location, managers can see who is working from home.

You can also generate reports showing how much work is performed from home, both for the entire organization and for each department.

## If automatic home office detection does not work on a PC

Some employees may find that their home office location is detected differently on a mobile device and a PC.

This is often because a PC or another device without GPS may provide the browser with a less precise location. My Capitech may then receive an incorrect or inaccurate location, especially if the device only uses Wi-Fi.

A simple solution is for the employee to create two home office locations:

1.  One location from a mobile device, for example **Home office mobile**
2.  One location from a PC, for example **Home office Wi-Fi**

This can make it easier to detect the correct location when registering time from both a mobile device and a PC.
