# Set up Positions in Flow

Positions in Capitech Flow give you an overview of which Positions employees have, how much they are expected to work in each Position, and how many hours they have been assigned in the plan. The feature is activated under Admin > Client settings > Dimensions.

## What are Positions in Flow?

Positions is a feature that allows you to register Positions for each employee in Capitech Flow.

When the feature is activated, employees get a separate **Positions** tab. Here, you can add both current and previous Positions, giving you a better overview of Position history and agreed working hours.

The feature can be used by all organizations, but it is particularly useful for organizations that use the **Plan module**.

## Where do you activate Positions?

Positions are activated in the client settings.

Here's how to do it:

1. Go to Admin.
2. Select Client settings.
3. Open the Dimensions tab.
4. Tick "Use position".
5. Click Save.

Once the feature is activated, the **Positions** tab is shown for employees in the Employee register.

## Where do you create Positions?

You create different Positions and Position types based on your needs.

Create Position types under **Admin > Employee > Position types**.

Click the plus icon in the upper-left corner and give the Position type a suitable description.

Click the plus icon in the upper-left corner and give the Position a suitable description.

## Where do you add Positions to employees?

Go to:

**Admin > Employee > Employee**

Open the employee and go to the **Positions** tab.

Here, you can add new Positions and view previous Positions.

## Positions in shift rotations

When Positions are activated, Position information is shown in **shift rotations**.

Here, you can see:

- which Positions employees have
- how much the employee is expected to work based on the Position
- how many hours the employee has been assigned in the shift rotation

If the employee has been assigned too many or too few hours compared with the Position, the difference is shown in red.

## Positions in the operational plan

Position information is also shown in the **operational plan**.

Here, you can see corresponding information for the period you have opened, for example:

- 1 week
- 4 weeks
- month

In the operational plan, you can see:

- which Positions employees have
- how much they are expected to work based on the Position
- how many hours they have been assigned during the period

If there is a difference between the agreed Position and the assigned hours, the difference is shown in red.

## Extra shifts for part-time employees

If this has been agreed, extra shifts for part-time employees can be assigned to separate on-call Positions.

This gives you a better overview of:

- what has been agreed for the employee’s regular Position
- what has been agreed as extra shifts
- which hours belong to which Position

## When are Positions useful?

Positions are particularly useful if you want better control over planned working hours and employment percentage.

The feature is well suited to organizations that:

- use the Plan module
- have part-time employees
- want an overview of agreed working hours
- want to see differences between Position requirements and assigned hours
- need an overview of multiple Positions for the same employee
