# Shift rotation rollout failed

If rollout of a shift rotation fails in Capitech Flow, you can click Failed in red text to see why the rollout stopped. The error is often caused by employees already having duties in the operational plan, being rolled out from another shift rotation, or assigned shifts from operational plan.

## What does it mean that shift rotation rollout failed?

When a rollout fails, it means that Capitech Flow could not add the shifts from the shift rotation to the operational plan for all or part of the period.

The error is shown on the rollout with red text: **Failed**.

## How to find the cause of the error

How to find the cause of the error

1. Go to Plan.
2. Select Shift rotations.
3. Find the shift rotation where the rollout has failed.
4. Click Failed in red text.
5. Read the error message to see what is stopping the rollout.

The error message usually shows why the rollout fails, and where employees already have shifts or a previous rollout.

## Common reasons why rollout fail

Shift rotation rollout often fails because shifts or links already exist in the operational plan and conflict with the new rollout.

Common reasons are:

- The employee has already been rolled out in another shift rotation on one or more of the days.
- The employee has manual shifts in the operational plan at the same time as the shifts you are trying to roll out.
- Shifts have been assigned to others from people with absence.
- No substitute needed has been set on shifts with absence.

## How to correct the error

To roll out the shift rotation again, you must first clean up the operational plan.

Check and correct the following:

1. **Delete shifts in the operational plan that conflict with the rollout**
Remove shifts that are at the same time as the shifts you are trying to roll out.
2. **Check whether employees have been rolled out from another shift rotation**
If the employee already has shifts from another shift rotation in the same period, these must be handled before a new rollout.
3. **Remove assigned shifts**
If shifts have been assigned to others because of absence, the assignment must be removed before a new rollout.
4. **Reset need om shifts**
If **no substitute needed** has been set on shifts with absence, the need must be reset.
5. **Roll out the shift rotation again**
Once the errors are corrected, you can try to roll out the shift rotation again for the same period.
