Copy or delete a shift rotation
When should you copy a shift rotation?
You can copy a shift rotation when you want to create a new shift rotation that is similar to an existing one.
This is useful if, for example, you need to:
- create a new work schedule based on an existing work schedule
- make changes without changing the original shift rotation
- use the same shift pattern for another department
- create a variant of a shift rotation for a new period
When you copy a shift rotation, an identical copy is created.
How to copy a shift rotation
- Go to Plan.
- Select Shift rotations.
- Find the shift rotation you want to copy.
- Click the three dots to the left of the shift rotation.
- Click the copy button.
A copy of the shift rotation is created.
Afterwards, you can open the copy and make the necessary changes.
When can you delete a shift rotation?
You can only delete shift rotations that do not have any rollout.
A rollout means that the shift rotation has been put into operation and has been used to add shifts to the operational plan.
If the shift rotation has a rollout, it cannot be deleted.
We do, however, recommend that you don't delete the shift plan, but rather set it as inactive.
How to delete a shift rotation
- Go to Plan.
- Select Shift rotations.
- Find the shift rotation you want to delete.
- Click the three dots to the left of the shift rotation.
- Click the trash can icon.
- Confirm the deletion if you are asked to do so.
The shift rotation is only deleted if it does not have any rollout.
If you cannot delete the shift rotation
If you cannot delete the shift rotation, this is usually because the shift rotation has a rollout.
Instead, you can consider setting the shift rotation as inactive, so it is no longer shown as active in the list of shift rotations.
To set a shift rotation as inactive, click the three dots and the pencil icon to enter edit mode. Then remove the checkmark for Active.
The shift rotation will then disappear from the standard view.
