Custom sorting of employees

In the operational plan in Capitech Flow, you can activate custom sorting to control the order in which employees are displayed. The sorting is saved commonly for all managers, so that everyone sees the same order when custom sorting is activated.

What is custom sorting?

Custom sorting allows you to determine the order in which employees are displayed in the operational plan.

By default, employees are sorted by the selected employee view, for example:

  • department
  • employee number and name

If you want a different order, you can enable custom sorting

When should you use custom sorting?

Custom sorting can be useful if you want to display employees in a specific order.

This can be, for example, if you want to group employees by:

  • team
  • work area
  • role
  • fixed location
  • internal workflow
  • the order managers usually use when following up employees

How to enable custom sorting

  1. Go to Operational Plan
  2. Click viewing options (the eye icon) in the top right.
  3. Select Use custom sorting.

When the option is activated, a sorting column appears on the left side of the plan.

You can switch between standard sorting and custom sorting in the viewing options.

How to set sorting numbers for employees

When custom sorting is activated, you can set the desired sorting number for employees.

Here's how:

  1. Activate Use custom sorting.
  2. Find the sorting column on the left.
  3. Click on the pencil icon.
  4. Enter the desired sorting number for employees.
  5. Save the change.

Employees are sorted by the number you enter.

Use the same sorting number for employees who should be shown together

You can give multiple employees the same sorting number if they are to be displayed together.

Example:

Employees

Sorting number

Result

Group 1

10

Shown first

Group 2

20

Shown after group 1

Employees without a sorting number

No value

Shown after employees with sorting

If multiple employees are given sorting number 10, they are shown together. Employees with sorting number 20 are shown after employees with sorting number 10.

Employees who do not have a sorting number are shown after employees who have a sorting number.

Important to know about custom sorting

Sorting numbers are shared by all managers.

This means that:

  • all users see the same custom sorting
  • it is not possible to create different custom sorting per user
  • changes to sorting affect the view for other managers who use custom sorting

This means new managers do not need to create their own sorting, and all users work with the same view.

Used when

Standard sorting

You want to sort employees by standard view, for example, number and name, or by name only.
