How are employee groups used in calculation rules in Capitech?
What does this cover?
Employee groups are often a central part of configuring calculation rules.
In practice, you can place employees who follow the same calculation logic into separate groups and link calculation rules to those groups.
This makes the setup easier to manage and more robust than creating rules for each individual employee.
How are employee groups used in practice?
Employee groups are often used to determine which calculations apply to different types of employees.
Examples include:
- salaried employees in particularly independent positions
- employees covered by The United Federation of Trade Unions (Fellesforbundet)
- employees covered by a specific trade union
- other groups with separate rules for hours, compensation, or overtime
This allows the calculation rules to reflect your organization’s actual payroll and collective agreement structure.
Example: Salaried employees without overtime
A typical example is an employee group for salaried employees in particularly independent positions.
The calculation rules can then be configured so that this group:
- only receives regular hours
- does not have overtime calculated automatically
This ensures that the calculations follow the logic that applies to this group.
Example: Separate rules for each collective agreement
Another example is creating separate sets of calculation rules for different collective agreement areas.
These may include:
- one set of rules for Fellesforbundet
- another set of rules for the trade union Styrke
Overtime, compensation, breaks, and other calculations can then follow the collective agreement that applies to the relevant group.
When is this relevant to you?
This article is relevant if you:
- need to set up new calculation rules
- are considering changing calculation logic based on collective agreements
- want to understand why calculations differ between employees
- want to reorganize settings that are difficult to maintain
How to get started
If you want to change settings controlled by employee groups, we recommend submitting a support request to support@capitech.no.
Describe:
- which employee groups are affected
- which types of employees belong to the group
- which collective agreement or other agreement should apply
- how the calculation works today
- how you want the calculation to work
- the date from which the change should apply
Important information
Employee group and calculation rule settings often directly affect the payroll basis.
We therefore recommend that you always submit a support request before making changes or requesting new settings. Incorrect settings may result in incorrect hours, compensation, or pay.
