Shift
Where can you find shifts?
You can find the shift overview under:
Admin - Plan - Shift
The overview shows the shifts available for planning in Capitech Flow.
Create a new shift
To create a new shift:
- Go to Admin - Plan - Shift
- Click the plus sign in the upper-left corner
- Enter the shift information
- Save the shift
The new shift can then be used in the planning module.
Change an existing shift
You can, for example, rename an existing shift.
If a shift has already been used, you cannot change its start and end times. This prevents historical plans and calculations from being changed retroactively.
To change the start or end time:
- Create a new shift with the correct start and end times
- Deactivate the original shift if it will no longer be used
Deactivate a shift
If a shift is no longer needed, you can deactivate it.
This is often better than changing an old shift because it may have been used in previous plans.
Important about calculation rules
Be aware that new or changed shifts may affect calculation rules.
Calculation rules may be used to calculate:
- hours
- compensation
- overtime
- other bases for time or payroll calculations
If you create new shifts or make significant changes to the planning setup, you may need to adjust or add calculation rules.
Contact us through support@capitech.no if you need help with this.
Check whether old shifts are still in use
On the far right of the shift overview, you will find the Used column.
This shows how many times the shift has been used.
If a shift has a value of 0 after you have used the planning tool for some time, the shift may be unnecessary. You can then consider deactivating it.
Frequently asked questions
Can you change the start and end times of a shift?

Why can’t you change the start and end times of a shift that has been used?
The shift may have been used in previous plans and calculations. Changing the times could affect historical data and calculation bases.
What does Used mean in the shift overview?
Used shows how many times the shift has been used. If the number is 0, the shift may be unnecessary.
